Church Renovation
The St. Columba Church Renovation project began in 2004 with a group of parishioners from each mass attendance, Fr. Jayson Landeza and Rawn Harbor to begin discussion and planning for a future renovation of the worship space. The document “Built of Living Stone” was studied in reference to what is required in the worship area when renovating a church and Liturgical Consultant, Sr. Marilyn Morgan was called in to advise/guide the group on considerations when planning a renovation.
In the meantime, the parish went through a visioning process in which parishioners shared their vision for the future of St. Columba including minstries, service & social justice, spirituality and liturgy and worship as well as a “dreaming” process (with Fr. Aidan) for a new building in the future which would be used as a center for service to the church community and the community at large.
In 2011, the renovation planning was continued with several general meetings (open to all – there were 6) and advisory-visioning meetings with a smaller representation. On May 15th, there was a Town Hall Meeting in which an updated report was given and the consultants were introduced to those in attendance. As the advisory-visioning committee continues to meet, the general assembly will be given updates as well as called to prayer throughout this process for its continued blessing and success.
The next TOWN HALL meeting (TBA) will include a presentation by the architect of suggested plans for the renovation. Parishioners will have an opportunity to view these plans and give feedback.
Let us continue to be in prayer for the success of this project.
