Gathering time for our families.
Explore how the Good Shepherd calls us to good stewardship of the Earth
We continue to gather families on a monthly basis, or more often. Please see the bulletin or FlockNotes for up-to-date information.
On the fourth Sunday of the month we gather families of all configurations for a time of prayer, sharing, learning and food. It is a time to strengthen the "domestic church" -- our families. The family, which for us is always the extended family, is the beginning of the growing of faith in our children. As parents, we share our experience and insight with one another; as children, we form community and share our learning; as grandparents, we share our wisdom and our story/stories.
The gathering includes break-out time for adults and children and a time for a family activity or craft project.
The break-out sessions for adults give an opportunity for reflection on scripture as well as learning about the particular topic of the day. The breakout sessions for children are according to age group: primary and intermediate elementary age and teens.
Right after 10:30am Liturgy we begin at 12:30pm with food and finish by 2:30pm.
We meet September to May (except December & February); January gathering is the first Sunday.
This is the heart of our multi-aged faith formation program.
Participation in the All-Family Faith Day is a necessary foundation for families who anticipate their children preparing for the sacraments. Most fundamentally, family is the heart of life and spiritual growth of our children.
So we are getting our children out of the classroom model and into the family circle model.
After all, family is where “faith is caught, not taught.” We gather as families also to support parents in their role as the first teachers of their children.
We welcome families of all shapes and sizes, including single families.
