Thank You
We now have our basic budget for Year 13: Sept 2022 - June 2023!
So now we are raising funds for Year 14! 2023-24
We raised these Year 13 funds through donations, individual and/or group. Due to COVID 19, we couldn't hold our usual public fundraisers.
Originally $272, now $300 per student per year
As members of St. Columba parish, “through African-American traditions, we are moved by the Spirit to serve", and thus work in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at the St. Mary Magdalene Classical Center in the Grand Ravine neighborhood and at the St. Bernadette parish school in Martissant--Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to achieve our #1 goal of providing education to the most impoverished children in their communities.
With these projects we intend to establish mutual sharing of our lives as faith-filled people, concerned with promoting dignity and human rights in the areas of reducing child enslavement, violence, and poverty in Haiti.
Haiti, the first republic established by a revolt in Jan. 1804 by African slaves, has since consistently been repressed by world powers. The U.S. has done much to harm Haiti. Beginning with Pres. Thomas Jefferson who said of the revolt, "That plague must be confined on that island!"
Although this has rendered Haiti the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Haitians remain upbeat and committed to their country.

We have contributed communications equipment, including solar energy, to establish a good exchange between St. Columba and our Haitian partners. St. Bernadette parish in the Martissant neighborhood has been the sponsor of St. Mary Magdalene from the beginning.
With a new special donor of 18 scholarships at the parish main school (St. Bernadette, Martissant, Port-au-Prince), now going into a fifth year, we hope to continue to strengthen our relationship with the parish community more broadly as they bravely promote peace with justice in the face of continuing political violence that has closed our schools regularly over the past two years.
This ongoing violence was capped on July 7th, 2022, with the assassination of Jovenel Moïse, the disputed president of Haiti. St. Bernadette parish as well as our St. Mary Magdalene school in the Grand Ravine section of P-A-P have been regularly disturbed by gang violence.
