As members of St. Columba parish, “through African-American traditions,” we are moved by the Spirit to serve,” and thus work in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Port-Au- Prince, Haiti, particularly the people of St. Bernadette Parish in Martissant and their Mission School, St. Mary Magdalene in Grand Ravine, to achieve their #1 goal of providing education to the most impoverished children in their neighborhoods. 

 With this project we intend to establish mutual sharing of our lives as faith-filled people concerned with promoting dignity, human rights, and justice in the areas of education, support of families, and reducing child enslavement, violence, and poverty.

Canon Law: 
This is reflected in Catholic canon law that states, Canon 222 Par. 2, “The Christian faithful are also obliged to promote social justice and mindful of the precept of the Lord, to assist the poor.
